DEDICATED SPORT SHOOTING STATUS

Guidelines to members of SAFS members

1. Introduction

Due to SAFS affiliation with CHASA (SAPS accredited hunters association.# 1300018) SAFS members may apply to be declared Dedicated Sport Shooter in accordance with the provisions of Section 16 of Act 60 of 2000. This status will entitle members to apply for the licensing of More than four firearms, The member may also apply for the licensing of a semi-automatic gun or shotgun (as long as the shotgun cannot fire more than five shots in succession) to have more than 200 rounds of ammunition per caliber, To grant a right to an unmasked person to apply for a firearm license and further extend the validity of firearm licenses from five to ten years.

2. Admission requirements

In order to qualify for Dedicated Sport status, the member must meet the following requirements: The member

The member
– must request that the Dedicated Status be granted to him/her by completion of the application form
– and must be a Paid in Full member (“in good standing”)
– and must have successfully completed the CHASA Senior PreScribe & Exam.

3. Process

Dedicated Sport Status is granted to a member in the form of an affidavit. This statement is the legal document that the member uses during the firearm licensing process. The accredited hunter’s/sport shooters association, which is the subject of licensing, is CHASA (accredited hunter association No. # 1300018). The affidavit is a timeless document and remains in force as long as the member meets the admission requirements.

To maintain this status, the following requirements apply:

The member
– must remain in good standing and a Paid in full member
– and must have taken part in prescribed SAFS activities

In case of failure to comply with these requirements annually by November, the member will lose his / her status as Dedicated Sportman and CHASA must then pass the disqualified member details to the SAPS in terms of Regulation 4

4. Procedure

1. The member completes the application form completely (it is absolutely essential for successful assessment) and, together with the required payment as listed on the Application form, will be delivered to the SAFS Executive Committee.
2. The SAFS Executive Committee ensures that the applicant complies with the admission requirements and approves the application.
3. SAFS Office for the issue of a Tempory SAFS Dedicated Sportman Certificate.
4. The electronic application form and the CHASA FEE are sent to the CHASA Office for recordkeeping and issue of the Printed CHASA Dedicated Sportman Certificate.
5. CHASA provides the complete list of Dedicated Sportman to the SAPS / CFR before 31 December of each year.
